Previewing Giants: Stopping Brandon Jacobs September 13, 2009

You don’t have to be an X’s and O’s genius to know what the key to winning tomorrow is. If the Redskins want to pull of the upset in the Meadowlands (speaking of which, thank god the Giants are moving out of that piece of crap next season), they MUST contain Brandon Jacobs. Granted, that’s like a college student saying they must pull an all nighter to get an “A” in their test. Meaning…….it’s a lot easier said than done.

However, the Redskins must stack eight in the box to stop Jacobs. I’ll take my chances with the Giants ordinary receivers. Our secondary can handle Domenik Hixon, Ramses Barden, Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham, or Steve Smith. Kevin Boss is a sleeper (full disclosure: he is also on my fantasy team) who has a knack for getting open. But he’s not Jeremy Shockey. Jacobs is the key and the Redskins linebackers must wrap up. Missed tackles will be costly against this team. Ask LaRon Landry how tough the Giants running game is.

Offensively, the Giants defensive line may be the best in the NFL.  Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck are obviously the big keys. Yet, I think the Giants secondary is average. Their corners are ok, but it’s not like they have Baltimore’s secondary.

Final prediction? Giants 26. Redskins 14. Hope I’m wrong, but that’s what I’m going with.
